The transit home for boys is a temporary residential home specifically operated for the street boys, where a boy i.e. the smaller ones are kept for a certain period of time under the full supervision and care. It is the rehabilitation and re-socialization phase of intervention. A boy is transferred to the transit home from the Day Care / Drop In Center or from other governmental agencies.
During the course of the boy’s stay in the transit home, assessments such as family, literacy and psychological assessments are performed. The top most priority and emphasis is to put on the family reintegration of the boy. If family reintegration isn’t possible the boy stays in the residential home for longer time and is admitted to school.
